A Journal Prompt for Every Day in August

August has a different pace than the rest of the year. School's about to start, summer is winding down, and there's something in the air that makes you want to slow down and take stock before the season turns. Below is one journal prompt for each day of the month — pick them up in order, jump around, or just flip to whatever date it is today.

August 1 — What does God want the second half of this year to look like for you? Ask Him, and write down what comes to mind.

August 2 — Write about a moment from this summer when you clearly saw God's hand at work.

August 3 — What's one thing you've been avoiding bringing to God in prayer, and why?

August 4 — Describe what it would look like to walk with Jesus through an ordinary Tuesday.

August 5 — Read Zephaniah 3:17. What does it mean that God rejoices over you?

August 6 — Where in your life are you saying yes to the world and no to what God is asking of you?

August 7 — What did younger you assume faith would feel like as an adult? Where has God surprised you?

August 8 — Write a prayer releasing someone you haven't forgiven yet. Ask God to help you forgive as you've been forgiven.

August 9 — What's a quiet act of faithfulness God saw, even if no one else noticed?

August 10 — What does Sabbath rest actually look like for you, versus how you've been living?

August 11 — Who in your life reflects Christ to you? Write them a note of thanks.

August 12 — What's a fear you've handed over to God, and how has He met you in it?

August 13 — Describe the woman you want to be in five years. What disciplines would help you grow into her?

August 14 — What's something you keep seeking that only God can actually satisfy?

August 15 — Halfway through August — what has God been teaching you this month so far?

August 16 — What's a boundary you need to set, and how might honoring it actually be an act of stewardship before God?

August 17 — Write about a place or moment where you've felt closest to God's presence.

August 18 — What would you do this week if you fully trusted God's provision instead of fearing others' judgment?

August 19 — What's a truth from Scripture you tell others but need to sit with yourself today?

August 20 — Describe a small, ordinary grace from this past week and thank God for it.

August 21 — What are you holding onto that you need to surrender to God?

August 22 — Who did you used to be before Christ reshaped you, and what do you thank Him for changing?

August 23 — Write out a verse God is using to speak to you right now, and why it matters this season.

August 24 — What does honoring God with your body look like for you this week — rest, movement, nourishment?

August 25 — What's a step of faith worth taking before summer ends?

August 26 — Write about a hard lesson God used to grow you.

August 27 — Which relationship is God inviting you to invest in more, and how can you love that person like Christ does?

August 28 — What are you grateful to God for that you rarely say out loud?

August 29 — What does contentment "in Christ" look like for you right now, regardless of your circumstances (Philippians 4:11-13)?

August 30 — What do you want to remember about how God met you in this exact season of your life?

August 31 — Looking back at August, where did you see God's faithfulness most clearly?
